The ideal season for luxury Oman travel is from October to March, when daytime temperatures are comfortable for desert exploration, mountain hiking, and coastal cruising. These months also bring cooler nights perfect for stargazing in private desert camps. Summer can be extremely hot, particularly inland, though the southern Dhofar region experiences a lush “khareef” monsoon from June to September.
Oman offers wildlife encounters as rare as its landscapes. In the southern Dhofar region, conservation rangers track signs of the endangered Arabian leopard, one of the world’s most elusive big cats. Along the coast, sea turtles nest on remote beaches and dolphins swim beside traditional dhows, while offshore reefs shelter reef sharks and vibrant fish. Lightweight, breathable clothing is best for daytime exploration, with warmer layers for cool desert and mountain nights.
